Individual Therapy in Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, Barrie, and surrounding Southern Georgian Bay and Simcoe County communities

Many high-achieving professionals, caregivers, and leaders spend years focusing on the needs of others while quietly carrying chronic stress, burnout, anxiety, or emotional exhaustion. Michelle offers a thoughtful, supportive space to explore life transitions, perfectionism, self-criticism, relationship patterns, and sexuality concerns while reconnecting with your values, well-being, and sense of self.

WHEN LIFE FEELS OVERWHELMING

Individual Therapy for Mental Health Concerns and Life Transitions

High-achieving individuals often carry responsibilities and expectations that others may not see. Beneath the surface, you may be navigating the invisible weight of:

Chronic Stress & Emotional Fatigue

For many high-achieving people, the drive that once fueled success can slowly turn into chronic stress and emotional exhaustion. Therapy offers a space to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with your emotional well-being.

Anxiety, Grief & Life Transitions

Overwhelming anxiety, panic attacks, grief, and major life transitions can leave even the most capable person feeling destabilized. Therapy offers a supportive space to process difficult emotions, make sense of change or loss, and regain a sense of grounding and clarity as you move forward.

Relationship Challenges

Navigating challenges in intimate relationships, family dynamics, friendships, and workplace relationships while strengthening communication, boundaries, and connection.

Questions About Identity, Purpose, Meaning

Navigating midlife reflection, adjusting to life after a major change, exploring concerns or questions about sexuality and gender, or making sense of a later neurodivergent diagnosis while reconnecting with your sense of identity, purpose, and direction

Low Self-Esteem, People Pleasing & Perfectionism

Feeling trapped in cycles of self-criticism, perfectionism, or people-pleasing can leave you constantly striving while rarely feeling good enough. Therapy offers space to build self-compassion, develop healthier boundaries, and reconnect with your sense of worth.

Trauma Recovery

Working through past trauma and painful experiences within a trauma-informed space that prioritizes emotional safety, compassion, and healing at your own pace

WHAT TO EXPECT

What Individual Therapy Can Feel Like

Therapy offers a space where you don’t have to perform or prove anything. You can bring whatever is present, even if it feels unclear, unfinished, or difficult to put into words. Our conversations follow what feels most pressing for you with attention to both insight and emotional safety.

Some sessions may feel reflective and exploratory, while others may focus more on practical shifts in how you relate to yourself, others, and the challenges in your life. Over time, many people notice greater clarity, a stronger relationship with themselves, and more flexibility in how they respond to stress and the challenges of everyday life.

Virtual Support

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Navigating Individual Therapy

Finding individual therapy services in Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, Barrie, and across the Southern Georgian Bay and Simcoe County communities can feel overwhelming at first. Finding the right therapist and mental health support can make a meaningful difference, and many people have questions about what to expect when beginning therapy.

Michelle focuses on providing psychotherapy and counselling rather than formal psychological assessments. She does not offer comprehensive assessments or diagnostic testing (such as ADHD or autism assessments). If you are seeking these specialized psychological services, it may be helpful to consult with a clinical psychologist who provides assessment services.

Michelle holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and a PhD in Clinical Sexology. She is a trauma-trained therapist and is registered with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists as a Registered Counselling Therapist and with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario as a Registered Psychotherapist. She is also a Certified Sex Therapist through the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists.

Michelle works with individuals and couples navigating a wide range of concerns, including sexuality, relationships, identity, trauma, and emotional well-being, offering thoughtful, evidence-informed care tailored to each person’s unique experiences.

Yes. Michelle offers a brief consultation to help determine whether working together feels like the right fit. The therapeutic relationship is an important part of the process, and this initial conversation provides an opportunity to discuss what is bringing you to therapy, ask questions, and learn more about how Michelle works. Michelle personally responds to all consultation inquiries.

Michelle provides therapy for a range of concerns, including anger, emotional regulation, anxiety, and relationship challenges. She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a therapeutic approach used to help process and heal from traumatic or distressing experiences. Therapy is tailored to each person’s needs and offered in a safe, supportive space for individuals and couples seeking meaningful change and emotional well-being.

Michelle offers direct billing to Blue Cross where possible. Because insurance coverage varies widely between plans, it is your responsibility to check with your insurance provider and review your policy to confirm that psychotherapy services and associated fees are covered.

Michelle offers clinical supervision for Registered Counselling Therapists (RCTs), Registered Counselling Therapist Candidates (RCT-Cs), and Registered Psychotherapists (RPs). Supervision provides a supportive space to deepen clinical skills, reflect on therapeutic work, and strengthen confidence and professional development. Michelle is passionate about mentoring therapists as they grow their practice, develop their therapeutic voice, and provide thoughtful, ethical, and client-centred care. She also serves as a dissertation committee member or chair for PhD candidates whose research aligns with her areas of expertise.
